A serviced Apartment is any apartment that is used for residential living for both short-term and long-term periods that is regularly maintained and serviced similarly to a hotel. This normally includes weekly maid service and cleaning  as well as other services. Serviced apartments can be offered on both self-catering and catering basis.

The history of serviced apartments goes back in the early 20th century when this type of accommodation became quite popular and during the last few years the industry has seen a huge revival with many new providers as well as hotel chains creating their own serviced apartments brands. The most obvious example being IHG hotel group that created the Staybridge brand only a few years ago capitalising on the big demand for serviced apartments. This type of category is an Apart Hotel and provides even more amenities than a regular serviced apartment.
